Insurance-Backed Guarantee

Your Roof, Protected for the Full 10 Years

An insurance-backed guarantee gives you complete peace of mind. As your roofer we are here to help and we look after any repairs ourselves under our own 10-year guarantee. The insurance-backed guarantee simply runs alongside that as a safety net, so your cover still holds even in the unlikely event our company is no longer trading. We arrange it through the Confederation of Roofing Contractors (CORC) at no profit to us.

The Key Points at a Glance

The six things worth knowing about your insurance-backed guarantee.

  • Your guarantee stays valid. If our company ever stops trading, your roof stays covered for the remaining years of the guarantee.
  • No commission, no profit. We are not paid for arranging it, and are not permitted to be. We provide it purely through CORC to protect your roof.
  • It covers the full 10 years. Continuous cover for the full contract value of your completed work (2 years for Solar PV).
  • We stay responsible for your roof. Day to day we are here, easy to reach, and we handle any repairs ourselves under our own guarantee. The insurance runs alongside it as your backup.
  • It moves with your home. If you sell within the 10 years, the guarantee transfers fully to the new owner.
  • Optional and quick to issue. It is a paid-for service, not required by law, with prices from £45. CORC usually issue it within 24 hours.

No Commission, No Profit

We believe in being completely transparent with you. Daniel Scott Roofing receives no commission and makes no profit from your insurance-backed guarantee, and we are not permitted to. The price you pay is purely the cost of the cover itself, which is set and provided by the Confederation of Roofing Contractors (CORC).

We offer it for one reason: so that your roof stays protected and you have complete confidence in the work we have carried out. Whether you take one is entirely your choice, and we are always happy to talk it through with you.

The simple explanation

What Is an Insurance-Backed Guarantee?

When we complete work on your home, we give you a company guarantee. An insurance-backed guarantee is a separate insurance policy that runs alongside it, so your cover holds up even if our company is no longer around to honour it.

Included as standard

Your company guarantee

This is our promise to you. If a defect appears in the work we carried out, we come back free of charge to put it right for the length of the guarantee.

The only catch is that it depends on us still being in business. If a company stops trading, the guarantee it gave can no longer be honoured.

Your added protection

Your insurance-backed guarantee

This is an insurance policy that sits alongside our company guarantee. If we cease trading, it steps in and covers your work for the remaining time on the guarantee.

Ceasing to trade means events such as liquidation, receivership, administration, winding up due to bankruptcy, state retirement, or the death of the owners.

Clear and simple

What It Covers, and What It Does Not

An insurance-backed guarantee covers new work and the materials we install. A few things fall outside it, so here is the full picture.

What it covers

  • New roofing work and the materials we install.
  • The full contract value of the work we completed, not just part of it.
  • Continuous cover for the full 10 years (2 years for Solar PV).
  • It transfers to the new owner if you sell within the 10 years.

What it does not cover

  • Repairs. Cover is for new work only.
  • Paints or resins.
  • Work carried out by anyone other than us.
  • Anything where the work has not been paid for in full.

How to Get Your Guarantee

It is best to let us know you would like an insurance-backed guarantee before work begins, so we can confirm everything is in place for you.

  1. Tell us you want one

Let us know before work starts, ideally when you accept the quote, that you would like an insurance-backed guarantee for your project.

  2. We confirm we can offer it

You can call the CORC office on the number below and select option 2 to confirm we are able to provide one for your work.

  3. The work is paid in full

Once your completed work has been paid for in full, we can request the guarantee for you. Cover cannot be issued before then.

  4. You receive your guarantee

We request it from CORC and they send it to you, usually within 24 hours, by email or post. Just tell us how you would like it sent.

A few things worth knowing

  • Keep your company guarantee. The insurance-backed guarantee must run alongside our company guarantee. If you do not keep that in place, it will be void.
  • The work must be paid in full first. Cover cannot be arranged for work that has not been fully paid for.
  • Check your details. Your guarantee is issued to the property owner. If there is a spelling or address error, contact us and we will get it corrected and a new copy sent.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if Daniel Scott Roofing stops trading?

This is exactly what the insurance-backed guarantee is for. If our company is no longer trading, your completed work stays covered for the remaining time on the guarantee through the insurance policy, rather than relying on us being there to honour it.

Do you make any profit from this?

No. We receive no commission and make no profit, and we are not permitted to. The price you pay is purely the cost of the cover itself, set by CORC. We offer it solely so that your roof is protected and you have confidence in the work we have carried out.

How long does the cover last?

The guarantee covers the full 10 years (2 years for Solar PV). You must keep our company guarantee in place alongside it for the same period, otherwise the insurance-backed guarantee will be void.

Is an insurance-backed guarantee required by law?

No. It is an optional, paid-for service. It is not mandatory, so it is entirely your choice whether to take one. We are always happy to talk it through so you can decide what is right for you.

How soon will I receive it?

Once the work is paid for in full and we have requested the guarantee, CORC usually send it to you within 24 hours. Commercial guarantees for businesses, churches and schools may take a little longer. You can have it by email, by post, or both.

Can I transfer it if I sell my home?

Yes. If you sell the property within the 10-year period, the insurance-backed guarantee is fully transferable to the new owner, which can be a real reassurance for a buyer.

Who is CORC and who actually issues the guarantee?

CORC is the Confederation of Roofing Contractors. They are insurance brokers registered with the Financial Conduct Authority, and they provide and issue the guarantee. We are a vetted member, which is what allows us to offer their insurance-backed guarantees to you.

Have a question about your guarantee? Call the office and select option 2, and we will be glad to help.
